Cardinals

Cardinals have beautiful red feathers

with a black patch around their eyes. 

This helps in trying to spot them.

You can see them even more easily if

it snows in the mountains if the

summer season is late.

'Give us a kiss!'

when looking for a mate, a male Cardinal will use an unusual wooing technique known as 'the courtship kiss' during which he will feeds his lady friend bits of food in an attempt to woo her! 

​

Amongst a Cardinals favourite tit-bits to nibble on, a sunflower seeds, and berries, but they are also meat-eaters, and can feed on meal-worms, especially when feeding their young, as it is rich in proteins. If you feed them in your garden you can also feed them suet.
