Fun Food Facts!

In New England Lobster is a favourite on the menu! and clam chowder is also a signature dish, & is made from butter, cream or milk and potato. Naughty but nice!

In the Supermarket

You can even order lobster to go in some local supermarkets, and have it already cooked and take it home to have alongside veg and a 'starch' or potato, as the American's call it! Sweet potato known to America as the yam, is my fave!

Did you know there are around 8000 Dunkin' Donuts in the USA , roughly 1,000 of them reside in New England alone!!

...Phew that's a lot of sugar!

I've not sampled the doughy delight, as they only have one gluten free item on the menu and that is a chocolate brownie!

Donuts
Pizza Chef

If you asked at the supermarket where the Cornish pasties were, you'd probably get a puzzled look! Known in America as hand pies which can also refer to pizza, as well!

One thing is the same, you can't beat home-baked of either!

Wherever you are!!

In baking this is especially true, particularly with the amount of additives and corn syrup in products, which can be quite bad for you. Everything's okay in moderation though ...so they say!

It was thanks to Chicago born inventor Frederick Wilcox who invented the first 'take out box; in 1894, that we can still take out our left over steaks, pizza, or dessert to have for brekky the next morning...

Takes me back to my student days!!
