The Pilated woodpecker

Pilated Woodpecker.jpg

These hole pecking insect munchers, are difficult to spot

allow you to see where they've been,

as they leave a trade mark calling

card in the way of tree barks with

holes, at times so deep you can see through the hold to the other side of the bark!

This woodpecker, although shy, is a very noisy animal, with a very high pitched

"Yik-yik-yik" sound, and when they are doing what wood-peckers do best, they have a low drumming sound which they use to say' hey look, this is my spot!'
